Ya have to be able to handle the cold, and boat control is a must, but I ran into a mess of channel cat this week in the fast current below No. 9.
Was lookin' for eyes with heavy jigs tiped with large fatheads and found myself into a mess of good eatin cats. most from the front of holes in the fast water.
Gotta go get some potatoes and onions cause its catfish in the stewpot the rest of this week.
Way to go my man. Is that why we call you catfish stew? Sometimes...you catch it just right when the eyes aren't biting those whiskered devils will hit the daylights out of anything in front of them. What time is the stew ready????????
Been caught up in the holiday stuff and aint been logged on much. Sorry I missed your reply and double sory, the stew is all gone.
Went Walleye fishin' last week and caught 4 Keepers in the last half hour of daylight. Kept all 4 fer the fry pan. Caught nothin' in the first 3 hours of the afternoon. But the wait was worth it. Gonna go over to Quad Cities next week. This warm winter has been great for the river rats.
As I'm writing this I am looking out onto the MISS here in Buffalo/Davenport. The water is wide open here in Pool 16. I have the benefit of working on this river year round with a local harbor company that provides barges to the grain docks. We catch cats quite alot. So I'm sure you'll have no problems. They were hitting a bit last weekend.....
